We’ve been cooking up something lekker behind the scenes, and we’re finally ready to show it off. BESTER Family Wines has had a bit of a glow-up, a fresh look and feel that’s all about bringing our family flavour to the front.
We’re talking bold, nostalgic, a little bit retro, and 100% BESTER.
Why retro-kief?
Because that’s where our story begins. Zakkie and Sandra Bester tied the knot back in 1983, and soon after came the kids: Anna-Bet, Mona, and Manus. We grew up during the easy-breezy heyday of the 80s and 90s. You know the vibe – boomboxes blaring, braais on the stoep, cassette tapes that got stuck, and endless road trips with the windows down and the Karoo dust in your hair.
That era shaped us: the laughter, the chaos, the togetherness. So when it came time to refresh our brand, we decided to lean right into that retro-kief feeling. Because honestly, who doesn’t want a bit of that wholesome, nostalgic joy back in their glass?
The look behind the label
Our new look celebrates those family roots. You’ll see hints of vintage texture, warm colours that nod to old photo albums, and design details that feel both familiar and fresh. It’s our way of saying: same family, same love, just a new groove.
The website has had its own glow-up, too. It’s simpler to navigate, packed with personality, and gives us plenty of space to tell our stories. Because wine is personal, and so is this family.

At the end of the day, the BESTER Family Wines story has always been about connection: between people, between generations, and between what’s poured in your glass and the land it comes from.
This refresh isn’t about changing who we are. It’s about showing up with even more authenticity, leaning into our roots, and having a bit of fun while we’re at it.
A huge shout-out to Tara du Plessis
We couldn’t have done it without the creative magic of Tara du Plessis, our brilliant graphic designer. She understood exactly what we meant when we said “retro kief, but make it classy.” Tara helped us translate all those 80s and 90s memories into something that still feels modern and utterly BESTER.
